Touring through Wales

This ingeneous Brammock Rod system was used to pump water out of the mines.. It was a line of slowly rocking joined rods straddling the Great Orme. The ocean powered the rocking from one side of the Orme and it acted on a pump to draw the water out of the mine at the other end. It was only 20 years later that a tunnel was dug that provided drainage and this great engineering feat became obsolete.
